Enhanced TANDBERG Content Server Makes Meetings, Lectures and Presentations Immediately Accessible on Any Website for Rapid Content Distribution:
Improves Training and Business Continuity

New Flash support enables flexibility to post recorded content straight from any standards-based video conferencing and telepresence endpoint with no need for decoding

NEW YORK and OSLO, Norway (Nov. 12, 2009) - TANDBERG (OSLO: TAA.OL) today announced a new software release for the TANDBERG Content Server (TCS) that makes it even easier for TCS users to record, edit and share multimedia files in all common streaming media formats, including Flash, for easy access and delivery of content to anyone on any device.

The TCS is a critical tool for recording and sharing trainings, lectures, presentations and meetings. Now, with the addition of Flash support, organizations - many of which have standardized on Flash streaming - have the flexibility to post recorded content straight from a video call to any website with no need for decoding. This ability to quickly communicate visually is a powerful asset for keeping employees and customers informed, especially during times of uncertainty when face-to-face messages are clearer and more reassuring.

Moreover, increased absenteeism from illness this time of year is common, and with the H1N1 virus impacts are expected to be more far reaching. By enabling telepresence and video conferencing users to record calls from any standards based endpoint for archiving and future viewing, the TCS helps ensure business continuity so even if key employees can't make a meeting, they can still stay informed.

"We are using the TANDBERG Content Server because it is the only recording and streaming tool that supports all major streaming formats from a single easy-to-use device. The addition of Flash now makes the tool even more powerful and opens a whole new range of opportunities for us to provide leading businesses worldwide with reliable content management and distribution," said Duncan Burbidge, Stream UK Media Services Limited CEO. "With the TANDBERG Content Server, we can record video and multi-media from any standards based video conferencing equipment to easily provide our customers with high quality live and on demand streaming services in a user-friendly format so they can reach anyone on any device. There are no limits to the ability to share content, which is essential for business today."

"The addition of Flash support to the Tandberg Content Server adds cross-browser, cross-platform, and cross-device streaming capabilities to an already powerful solution," said Ira Weinstein, analyst and partner at Wainhouse Research. "Enhanced content editing, clustering with improved SQL Server support, and wide-band audio support, make the TCS a strong enterprise streaming solution that enables users to quickly deliver customized content to a wide audience."

The TCS is a user-friendly solution that simplifies the process of content creation and sharing to drive efficiencies and increase communication for all types of organizations. Because it is standards based, the TCS is the only out of the box solution that can leverage existing and future visual communications investments to easily stream, record and share video for anytime, on-demand access from any PC or Mac device. Additionally, new features like the five-second delay option for preparation before recording, and enhanced editing and automated sharing capabilities make developing new multimedia content for the web easy, delivering new levels of knowledge sharing and flexibility.

"Seeing someone deliver a presentation or explain a concept rather than simply reading about it in an email is undeniably more powerful," said Håkon Dahle, TANDBERG Chief Technologist. "The TANDBERG Content Server is the only recording solution with Flash support that transforms any standards based video endpoint into a content recorder. This new ability to create and immediately deliver video for the web straight from a video call extends the value of visual communications solutions to unprecedented levels."

TCS Software upgrades will be available for existing TANDBERG customers in Q4 2009. The enhanced TCS will be demonstrated at the TANDBERG booth 524 at Streaming Media West 2009 in San Jose, CA, from Nov. 17-19.
