Williams Sound is ready to revolutionize the world of assistive listening with the introduction of FM+ Dante, the industry’s first system able to broadcast both FM and Wi-Fi audio from a single device. It is also the first with a Dante audio input.
Often, the integrator’s most difficult choice when designing an assistive listening system is deciding between an FM or Wi-Fi solution for their customer. With FM+ Dante, the customer gets both for little more than the cost of an FM-only solution. The FM+ Dante integrates the new WaveCAST Wi-Fi audio server technology into a Williams Sound FM assistive listening system. End users can now listen with either an FM receiver or with their own smartphone (via the free WaveCAST Listening App). With this flexibility comes exceptional audio quality, as the FM+ Dante is built on a professional digital audio (DSP) platform.
The FM+ Dante interface provides integrators with a full digital audio networking solution. It is based on the Audinate UXT Ultimo chipset. This chipset supports both AES67 and SMPTE 2110. Dante’s Ultimo UXT support of AES67 and SMPTE 2110 allows integrators multiple audio options to chose from for greater interoperability with other audio equipment with their system design. This allows the FM+ Dante to be controlled by the Dante Controller -- the easy-to-use software from Audinate for setting up and managing audio routing of Dante-enabled products on an audio network.
FM+ Dante is designed for those who want to use their own smartphones and headphones for a more discreet assistive listening experience. Simplicity is also available for those who want a more traditional assistive listening system with a dedicated FM receiver and headset. FM+ supports both the new iOS and Android WaveCAST Apps -- in addition to all current and legacy Williams Sound FM receivers operating on the 72-76 MHz bandwidth.
“At InfoComm19, we will be previewing the newest member of our WaveCAST family, the FM+ Dante,” notes Rob Sheeley, President and CEO of Williams AV. “The FM+ Dante adds an innovative twist to the world of Wi-Fi assistive listening systems by integrating a professional FM transmitter into the WaveCAST system, then adding Dante control. Any Williams Sound FM receiver can now be used with the FM+ system.”
